Version of the Creative Cloud app: 4.7.0.400

App area: Adobe Application Manager, Adobe Creative Cloud

Operating system: macOS 10.14.3

Browser version:  n/a

Concise problem statement: Adobe Creative Cloud installs 32-bit applications.

Steps to reproduce:

1. In a system without any Adobe products, install Adobe Creative Cloud version 4.7.0.400 via Creative_Cloud_Installer.4.8.0.410.dmg and let the Adobe Creative Cloud perform any updates as needed.  Do not install any other Adobe products. Let Adobe Creative Cloud install and finish updating itself.

2. Reboot.

3. Run /Applications/Utilities/System\ Information.app

4. click ((System Report…))

5. In the System Information window, click Applications under Software.  Wait until a list of applications show up.

6. Click on the “64-Bit (Intel)” column that is all the way over on the far right. This will let the list of applications sort by “64-bitness”.

7. Scan down the “No” looking for applications by Adobe.

Results:

The following 32-bit applications were installed when Adobe Creative Cloud version 4.7.0.400 was installed on a clean maxOS 10.14.3 (18D42) system:

  • /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Application Manager/LWA/AAM Registration Notifier.app
  • /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Application Manager/P6/AAM Registration Notifier.app
  • /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Application Manager/UWA/AAM Updates Notifier.app
  • /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Application Manager/core/AAMLauncherUtil.app
  • /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Application Manager/core/Adobe Application Manager.app
  • /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Application Manager/P6/adobe_licutil.app
  • /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Creative Cloud/HDCore/Install.app
  • /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Application Manager/DWA/Setup.app
  • /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Application Manager/DECore/Setup.app
  • /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Application Manager/D6/Setup.app
  • /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Application Manager/DECore/DE5/resources/uninstall/Uninstall Product.app
  • /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Application Manager/DECore/DE6/resources/uninstall/Uninstall Product.app
  • /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Creative Cloud/HDCore/Uninstaller.app

In the not so distant future, the above applications will NOT run on macOS 10.15 based systems as they are not 64-bit (Intel) applications.  Please update Adobe Creative Cloud to either remove these 32-bit applications or replace them with 64-bit (Intel) applications.

Expected results:

Installing Adobe Creative Cloud or updating Adobe Creative Cloud should NOT install any 32-bit applications.  Any Adobe Creative Cloud 32-bit applications should either be removed or replaced with 64-bit (Intel) applications.

Thank you.

So, it's 8 months later, and on the eve before Catalina's release we get the exact same result for Adobe Application Manager:

195eu the applications that you listed are not utilized by the current release of Adobe CC applications. Please make sure you are using the current release of any CC applications, and the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application, and you should not face any problems running the applications under macOS 10.15.

I did a completely fresh install just two hours ago – every piece of software listed has been installed by the CC Desktop App while installing the latest InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat releases.

If they are not needed by the current software suite, why are they installed? Can I remove Application Manager?

They are installed to ensure compatibility with older applications. If you are looking to save disk space, then I would recommend moving any documents, video, or pictures to a different drive. Removing components that are installed as part of the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application installation will likely lead to future errors.
