I purchased adobe creative suite 5 many years ago and activated it on my mac laptop. I've just gotten a new(ish) 2019 imac, purchased a dvd drive, and tried to install cs5 via the disc on my new computer. On the disc, I recieved an error, saying I needed to upgrade the installer, or I could log on to adobe's site to download the program. So I log on to adobe's site, but when I try to register the serial number to download cs5, it says the serial number is already active ... at that's it.
I ran around in circle's with the helpbot AI for a few minutes to no avail. As far as I can remember, I have only had this product installed on my one laptop. I've tried picking through the website to find help, but there doesn't seem to be any. Any suggestions or solutions I'm overlooking would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
your new mac only supports 64 bit apps and cs5 is not 64 bit. ie, your computer isn't compatible with cs5 and there's no update to cs5 that will make it compatible.
you would need a current subscription to access current (64 bit) adobe apps. https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/plans.html

Which operating system?
Legacy Creative Suite installers are 32-bit and won't work on any macOS newer than Mojave.
On the other hand, most Creative Cloud Apps work on these systems:

Hope that helps.
