I tried out InDesign CC and then cancelled the free trial but now my registered copy of InDesign CS6 will not launch - I just keep getting a window referring me to the SUbscription Manager to update my subscription status in order to be able to use the product.  Now I can't open any of my existing CS6 files! Please help...

Thank you, John. I think this is exactly what I need but very depressing! I really don't want to reinstall CS6 and it seems very unfair and rather deceitful of Adobe not to mention this "side-effect" of installing the free (no strings) trial of CC.  I did try uninstalling the Cloud app but it is obviously running something in the background so won't allow itself to  be uninstalled. Very frustrating!

On the other hand, it seems to be possible to have multiple free trials of CC so maybe I have to just do this every 2 months when I do my newsletter.

I'm sorry if I don't remember correctly, and can't find the answer I probably wrote here in the forums. But if I'm not wrong, deinstalling CC does something to the files contained in the Applications > Utility > Adobe Application Manager folder. If you can restore the files you had with CS6, it should work fine again.
