Sorry I can't justify the cost, since the creative I'm doing is speculative. Adobe really should take this into account.

don't reply via email, or remove your signature.  you don't want that info shared across the internet.

for those 3 apps, you may as well get the all apps plan because those 3 would cost $600/year.

I replied via email and it included my info which I'd like to delete but I can't find a way to do that. I'm using an ipad which is often missing features or less usable. Also I can't find a delete or edit button on my MacBook 2012.

It seems my best option is to repair the USBs on my MacBook 2012 running CS3. From what I've glanced at on this support forum, I may run into problems getting my CS3 to run on another Intel MacBook due to transferring the license. Is that correct?

You can't install Creative Suite on Catalina or later (Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura).

You won't be able to get CS3 activated on any machine at all.

An old Mac where CS3 has always been running is your only hope.

Subscribing to Creative Cloud for a year (around $700) is way cheaper than buying an upgrade to CS6 would have been - so I'm not sure why you are ruling out CC, unless your system is old (you can't run CC on older Macs or Mac systems).

if cs3 is working now on some computer, don't change any hardware on that computer.

if you do  make a change (on that computer, or try to use a different computer) you will have to reactivate cs3 and that's impossible.

CS3 is officially DEAD.  You can't reinstall it on NEW or OLD devices now.

Modern equipment requires modern software.  Mobile devices use entirely different software from Desktops.  If you're illustrating a comic book, you could probably find a suitable drawing app on Google Play or Apple Stores.

Adobe Express for $10/month contains Photoshop Express among other things.

https://helpx.adobe.com/express/using/express-overview.html

Likewise, you could get Adobe Fresco for the iPhone, iPad or ZBook.

https://www.adobe.com/products/fresco.html

https://helpx.adobe.com/fresco/system-requirements.html

Hope that helps.

=============

Why should software makers care if you're using tools for hobby, spec or commissioned projects?  That's not their concern. They just make the tools.

You're no different than an artist who uses paints & brushes to create canvas art.  You still have to pay for supplies and tools you use, whether or not you sell the artwork.

You can lease InDesign for however long you need it & cancel anytime without penalty.  See screenshot.

If you can't afford pro-level tools, use cheaper alternatives.

A 2012 MacBook Pro is going to be limited to running macOS Catalina, which Apple and Adobe have stopped supporting. CS3 is dead, as well. If you are going to get a current computer then you'll need the subscription to CC to make it work.
