Hello All,
My old IMac broke down, so I now have a newer (IMac 27" 2013) one.
I have a disk for Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended (An old disk version).
I loaded it on to my computer and tried to open it up. It wouldn't no matter what I did.
I eventually got a notice that I had to: To open "CS5 service manager you need to install the legacy JAVA SE6 Runtime". I did this, but I still cannot upen up the program. Also, I am using the newer (2013) computer to install the program. Another point which may not matter is that I have a teacher edition and I sent the serial number to Adobe for this new installation.
Can anyone help?
Also, please keep the instructions simple, so that anyone can understand what you are advising me.
Thank you

You didn't mention which operating system you're using.
Legacy Creative Suite WON'T WORK on Catalina. Apple ended 32-bit app support at Mojave.
Creative Suite installers don't work on Sierra or higher. You need terminal workarounds described below.
https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/install-creative-suite-mac-os-sierra.html
And even then there's no guarantee your old software will work with newer operating systems, You really need modern software that's compatible with your mac OS.
Photoshop Elements 2020 (approx $100, no subscription needed)
https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements.html
Creative Cloud Photography Plan (approx $10/month for 1 year subscription)
https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/photography.html
Creative Cloud All Apps Plan (31 + apps & services)
Qualifying students and teachers get 60% off the first year.

==========================
Beware of Adobe impostors offering to sell you Creative Suite 6. It's a scam. Nobody can legally sell Creative Suite anymore.

Hello Nancy,
My operating system is: Mac OS Mojave Version 10.14.6
Nancy, if I understand what you wrote, then does this mean that my CS5 version is 32 bit, and it will not work, plus
"Creative Suite installers don't work on Sierra or higher" ?
If so, then I will probably subscribe to Adobe with regard to the Creative Cloud Photography Plan.
Thanks for your help,
Stacey B

Your 32bit program should work on Mojave, it is Catalina that will not work since it is 64bit only
You need to click the link underneath "Creative Suite installers don't work on Sierra or higher" to learn how to install your program

Hello John,
"You need to click the link underneath "Creative Suite installers don't work on Sierra or higher" to learn how to install your program"
Thanks for the answer, but I have no idea what you said.
Can you simply and elaborate as to what you wrote, and where do I find "Creative Suite installers"?
Thanks,
Stacey

Stacey,
I posted several links in my first reply to you. Read it again.
If you can't get your older software running on Mojave, I think the Photography Plan is a very good option. Best of all, you get free upgrades with paid membership. So your software stays compatible with newer cameras and computers.
Good luck!

Hi Nancy,
I took your advise and signed up for the $ 9.99 subscription of Photoshop and other softwares.
No point in using an older version, since I haven't much experience in computer settings.
Thank you for your advise.
