Creative cloud crashes Firefox browsers

Hi,

I am finding Creative Cloud is doing a really strange thing when I start an application. If my Firefox browser is open and I start Photoshop or Indesign for example, it crashes Firefox. It seems to happen when Creative Cloud is activating the font library.

Is anyone else having this problem? If so any fixes?

I am using an iMac with version 10.15.7, Photoshop 22.5.1, Indesign 16.4 and Firefox 93.0.

i haven't seen anyone else post about that problem so it's not a widespread problem.

i suggest uninstalling firefox, restarting your computer and then reinstalling it.

if that fails, you should consider updating your os.

Have tried that, without success. When I reinstall Firefox the problem persists. I've found a strange solution: logging out my user and logging in again. Then I can have both Creative Cloud and Firefox open at the same time. Very, very strange. Mac Studio M2 Ultra with Sonoma 14.2.1 and the latest Firefox and Creative Cloud versions.

I have this problem, too. I've also tried to uninstall/reinstall Firefox, but that action did not solve the problem. Windows10 user here, and this issue seems to be consistent with all Adobe CC 2021 products.

I am experiencing the same problem. I've reinstalled Firefox several times and the only solution I found was to inactivate Adobe Cloud when I have Firefox open. 😕

I have this problem too. I have a Mac Studio M2 with Sonoma. If I have Creative Cloud turned on, Firefox freezes and I have to force quit, turn Creative Cloud off and reopen it. It's driving me nuts. I also have to turn it off as a Login item for the same reason. Never had an issue like this before.

Hi all,

Could you all confirm if the web browser Firefox has been updated to the latest version?

Also, is it happening with any specific Adobe app?

Looking forward to your response.

Regards,

Shivangi

Hi, to add another data point we have confirmed this happens:

- on a fresh install of macOS Sonoma 14.4
- with a fresh user account
- with latest versions of Firefox (123.0.1) and Adobe Creative Cloud (6.1.0.587)
- with no applications, fonts, or anything else done via the Creative Cloud desktop app

After a reboot, Firefox will consistently hang provided that either:
- the 'Adobe Creative Cloud' login item is enabled, or
- the Creative Cloud desktop application is otherwise running
...and the system fontd process will be pegged to 100% CPU.

We have confirmed this is not a hardware-specific, OS-specific, user-specific, or architecture-specific issue, and is definitely an interaction caused by the Creative Cloud desktop application.

I am not able to reproduce this on either Intel or M1 Macs with Sonoma. Have you tried deleting font caches? This can fix a lot of odd font-related problems.

Since this is not something unusual which can be reliably reproducible. If possible, can you please add a video recording of the experience which you are seeing.

Thanks
