Desktop means Windows and/or macOS. What's important is which macOS version you have installed on your Mac.

Here are the official system requirements for Photoshop and Lightroom (Cloud & Classic):
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/system-requirements.html
https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/system-requirements.html
https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/system-requirements.html

As you can read there, all of them need at least "macOS Mojave (version 10.14) or later".

Hi @sarahs97905116,

In addition to what @thatsmauri said,  you need ample resources to support Creative Cloud Desktop App and all other apps you intend to use. Plus Photoshop has new GPU requirements that your 2013 machine probably can't handle.

Adobe expects users to have have modern equipment and operating systems no more than 2 versions back

Apple is releasing Monterey in a few weeks which further widens the gap.

Mojave, Catalina, Big Sur, Monterey...
