I was told that I would receive access to Photoshop and InDesign (among other software) with my college's creative cloud suite. Adobe is requesting that I begin a free trial for these programs instead of just providing them for free. I am unsure if that is how I should be accessing them.

Giannag817, I am sorry, but I can confirm that there is no membership associated with the e-mail address you used to post to this public discussion forum.
If the education institution you attend is providing you access to a Creative Cloud membership, then you will want to contact them to determine how to take advantage of that membership.
If they are not providing you with a membership, then you can use the process listed at https://www.adobe.com/education.html?promoid=NLMHRGL1&mv=other to purchase a Creative Cloud for Education membership.
