Hey there
I have installed Creative Suite 5.5 Standard on a new(ish) iMac in case my trusty 2012 Mac Pro fails.
I enter the serial number and get the green tick and the install goes ahead fine.
I did have a hiccup with the "Error 129:17 | Launch Creative Suite 5.5 in New Zealand" but found
Error 129:17 launching Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 in New Zealand to fix it. All OK.
However, after about 10 days I get an "Activation Required" popup box which tells me to connect to the internet, activate and continue.
I know it's antique software, but am I stil able to activate CS5.5 as there are differing opinions everywhere.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

your newish mac supports 32 bit apps?
if so, try offline activation.
disconnect the computer from the internet
Launch the product.
At the Serial Number Validation screen, click Having Trouble Connecting To The Internet.
Click Offline Activation and click Generate a Response Code.
Write down the Request Code.
Switch to an online computer and navigate to www.adobe.com/go/getactivated.
Click Offline Activation.
Sign in with your Adobe ID.
Enter your Request code and click Generate.
Write down the Response code.
Switch back to the offline computer.
Enter the Response Code and click Activate.

Thanks for your reply.
I think your suggestion only applies to a newer version of Adobe Application Manager than what came with CS5.5.

you're incorrect if you're stating offline activation does not apply to cs 5.5

No.
Not that offline activation doesn't apply, but, that the options:
At the Serial Number Validation screen, click Having Trouble Connecting To The Internet.
Click Offline Activation and click Generate a Response Code.
are not shown on the older version of Adobe Application Manager. I think it changed with CS6.

Which operating system?
Legacy CS5 won't install on modern macOS beyond Mojave. It's not compatible with 64-bit systems.
