I had CS6 installed on my previous computer, but it is now deactivated. When I try to install it on my new computer, I am told that my serial number is not valid and is likely fraudulent/pirated. However, it is a valid serial number and I have the receipt as proof.
Although I have the disc, I had to download the program files directly through a chat with Adobe when I installed it on my last computer, but it doesn't seem like the chat is available now. I have downloaded the files from the Adobe site and tried to install it that way, but there is still a problem with my serial number.

I understand. It seems that Customer Service has no answer, or refuses to say what you just did. Something has changed, but I keep hearing "the serial number is valid" from Customer service and "it should work," but it simply does not work.
Thanks for the effort.

adobe has not supported cs6 for years. they don't even support 2 versions past (~2 year old) cc versions.
it's surprising you (and others) have gotten more out of adobe support regarding cs6 in the past month than they were giving since adobe cc was released years ago.

My request os not for support. It is asking that my legally licensed and sold product be allowed to work. It is stealing if I install more than one copy of this software on different machines, and I have operated legally all these years. But, it is theft to stop a software from working because they want me to upgrade. I'm surprised that more people aren't upset about this. They are stealing from me now.

you're late to complain. cs2, cs3 and cs4 were removed from the possible to activate list years ago due to actions taken by adobe.
those issues and adobe's role are clear. why you're having a problem is unclear, and adobe's role is unclear.

I never had a problem until now.

Windows 7 is fully unsupported by Microsoft now. Old operating systems are vulnerable to security threats. It's possible you can't connect to Adobe's activation servers for security reasons.

True, but Win 7 still runs and is still authorized by Microsoft. That's all I want from Adobe. On my production computer I don't need all that other stuff. It's offline and safe from threats and is used only to produce audio parts for our radio station. I don't want to upgrade until I have to.

You may have to. Even with a valid serial number, 10+ year old software is on life support with no future left. Sorry but it is what it is...

Adobe Audition is the only software I own that has now forbidden me from using it, outdated or not. I have other options to replace it, however, my work for the past 10+ years is tied up in sesx files. No, I won't upgrade. Old software is working just fine for the time being. Why would I want to change that? I lose Audition because they took it away. All of my other software is just fine.

Thank you for the information. At least now I know where I stand, unlike when Adobe Customer Service led me on a wild goose chase for days, telling me the serial number was good and it should work. Have a nice day and thank you for your insight.

I have been using Firefox, and it is up to date. Brave was being used previously, and I installed Chrome. All give the same offline response. "The serial number {redacted} entered is invalid. Please Re-install the product and generate a new Request Code using a valid Serial Number." This is using the same install file originally provided and serial number issued at purchase of product. These two have always worked before.

You didn't buy a forever license, nobody did. At some point, 10+ year old software comes to it's End of Life after which it ceases to work.
You may upgrade to new equipment and software if you wish. Make sure your computer meets the minimum CPU & GPU requirements. Most Creative Cloud apps work on:

Hope that helps. Best of luck.

I realize it's not forever. However, all of the software Microsoft publishes can still be authorized for those of us who would rather run these OS's. I still use Windows XP on audio automation because it runs better in that duty than any other I've tried. Offline for protection and runs like a workhorse. Other OS's tend to crash when playing audio 24/7. Audition was not mentioned to me that it was dead. I discovered it the hard way. In my opinion, I should still be able to install and run the software from the original install file using the original SN I obtained from Adobe. It is their lack of allowing the continued use of the software that I question, not the age of the software. I don't need tech support or updates. I need authorization to use the software that I was authorized previously to use. That's all I seek.
