Deactivation / Reactivation Issues with CS3 & CS5

Hi,

We are having issues with our old versions of CS. This is what I am trying to do:

1. Deactivate CS3 off an old Mac Book (OSX 10.4.11) so that I can install it on an iMac (OSX 10.15.7)

2. Reinstall CS5 on MAC Tower (OSX 10.6.3) - has been running quite happily on since first installed.

Getting error saying that the machines are not connected to the Internet (when trying to deactivate) when they are.

I've checked some older threads that seem to point to the Adobe Activation Servers for older versions of CS not being online anymore  - but the threads seems to go round and round in circles.

The older versions cost a lot of $$ back then and we still want to use them as they are still fit for purpose (for us).

Cheers

TLS 1.2 is now required to connect https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/eol-tls-support.html

Installing CS5 may be a problem

Apple did not maintain backward compatibility, so try this to install old programs

  • CCS3 is 15 years old & dead.
  • CS5 is 12 years old & on life support.

At some point, you need to upgrade to modern software that's compatible with modern equipment and OSs.   It's foolish to think that you can keep using discontinued, unsupported software forever.  😏

Creative Suite 5 won't install on Sierra, High Sierra or Mojave without terminal workarounds.  See below for details.

Creative Suite will NEVER work on Catalina, Big Sur or Monterey because Apple stopped support for older 32-bit apps.

MODERN OPTIONS:
Photoshop Elements or Premier Elements (approx $100, no subscription needed).

Creative Cloud Photography Plan (approx $10/month for 12 months). Includes the following:
- Photoshop CC and Photoshop on iPad
- Lightroom on desktop, mobile and the web
- Lightroom Classic
- Portfolio website + hosting
- Bridge
- 20 GB cloud storage (upgradable to 1 TB).

Beware of fake Adobe reps who may contact you privately offering to sell you software or take control of your computer. It's a scam, run away! Real Adobe employees will never reach out via Outlook, Yahoo, Gmail or Skype.

I understand the desire to keep old paid for versions, but if your computer meets the specs for Creative Cloud, you might not go back to the old versions after trying the current versions.
