draging image into tab

hello.  I am trying to drag a group of layers into another tab.  I am in move mode on the layer, press and hold the mouse and drag it into the new tab document.  Once I am in the new  page I release the mouse cursor but the image does not transfer into the new document.  I have have succeeded in transfering before, but this time it's not happening.   Thank you Daphne

Assuming this is Photoshop, are you doing click, hold, drag & release?  And look at your layers panel to ensure the new layers are on top of the stack.   Sometimes it helps to group layers before you move them.
