How to get serial #

I bought Adobe Premiere Elements 2020 from staples brand new.  I'm trying to use the video editor but its asking me for a serial #.  All it came with is a redemption code.  I followed instructions to get serial number but it says redemption code not valid.  Any help would be appreciated.
