trying to figure out the quickest and most effective way to do this kind of animation at a smaller scale with 3 different elements instead of 2. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Any animation program will help doing that.

If you want using Adobe programs:

• Animate (formerly flash) or
• After Effects seam the most suited.

The number of different elements is not an important point. What metters is if you have plug-ins that can do collistion detection and some physics. But it is no big problem to handle that by hand.
