Illustrator, InDesign & Photoshop extremely slow after upgrading to Mojave

I upgraded to Mojave 10.14.2 on my mac a few weeks ago and ever since then my adobe programs that I use all the time for work are painfully slow. Saving or opening a file or pasting an object takes about 3 minutes each of pinwheel time. I don't recall them being this slow at first, it seems to have gotten worse over time. How can I troubleshoot this and get things moving faster again?
