Hello,

Windows Server 2016 Standard 1607 English, no other A/V than Windows Defender.

All previous versions of InDesign Server being uninstalled and OS rebooted,

All available Windows Updates being installed - none pending,

Trying to install InDesign Server CC-2021 with provided "Adobe InDesign Server Limited 16.2.1.msi",

Only 14 seconds after the installation started, we repeatedly get the following message:

[...]

MSI (s) (38:60) [17:04:30:961]: The call to SRSetRestorePoint API failed. Returned status: 0. GetLastError() returned: 127

[...]

MSI (s) (38!50) [17:04:44:003]: Closing MSIHANDLE (6671) of type 790541 for thread 5456
CustomAction CADeploy returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)

[...]

Then, the installer rolls back, and AIS is eventually not installed.

Full MSI log file was attached to this message.

Did somebody here already experience this behavior?

Could you advise?

Thanks!

We are not the system admin; the person who is in charge, did not find the real reason of the trouble.

As it is not directly possible to run a MSI installer with Elevated roles, the only solution we found (via Google, indeed) was to open a CMD box with Elevated roles (AKA "Command Prompt (Admin)", then to manually run the MSI installer from there.

The AIS CC-2021 installation completed successfully.

Thanks!

there's a policy restriction on your computer disallowing setting a restore point.  google how to fix that (if you're the system admin).
