Installing Lightroom 5 on to a Mac from a DVD

I have been using Lightroom 5 on an iMac with no problems.  I recently upgraded to a Mac Mini and I tried to reload Lightroom 5 from the DVD using a SuperDrive.  The installation seemed to go OK, but it never asked for my licensing code.  When I open Lightroom 5, the LR welcome screen comes on for a few seconds, then disappears and a very long trouble report is created.   Any workarounds?  I don't want to pay $10/month for a program I rarely use.

Thanks!

That's interesting since I'm able to run LR5 on my 2015 iMac running on Monterey.

The issue is not LR5 which is 64 bit. It's the installer.

If LR5 was pre-installed and the 2015 iMac was upgraded to Monterey then LR5 will continue to run since you don't need the 32 bit installer which comes with LR5.

Did you ever install LR5 fresh on the 2015 iMac?

Are you trying to install Lightroom 5 (perpetual version) from 2013? That won't work due to changes made by Apple to their operating system in the past decade.

You'll have to subscribe to a Cloud plan.

Anyway, thanks for the reply

lr5 is 64 bit. it will run on a computer that only supports 64 bit.

but the lr5 installer is 32 bit. ie, you need both 32 & 64 bit support to install and run lr5.

Yes, I did install LR5 on the iMac using the DVD way back when.  I assume that there's no 64 bit installer for LR5.

If I subscribe to LR Classic and it works while I am online, will it still work if I am traveling and don't have internet access?  Or will it say "sorry we can't verify that you're a valid subscriber"?

thanks again

That would have been on the original OSX. Later, after LR5 was already installed, you upgraded to Monterey.
Monterey cannot run 32 bit so LR5 cannot be installed on Monterey.

Should work OK. Always has for me.
