Invalid SN from regid file on mac?

New Here ,

I am trying to move CS6 to a new Mac.  I was unable to locate the Sn so followed instructions other forums which helped me locate the SN in the regid file on my mac.  I subsequently went to add this SN to my adobe account and it says it is not valid.  CS6 works on the existing mac.; if the SN was invalid, I would suspect it would not work on the existing mac.  Chat support also advised the SN was invalid (starts with a 9 rather than a 1; is it encoded?).    Any ideas?

As far as I know, serial numbers ARE encrypted... the link below should solve that problem

Lost information - see reply #1 in https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2008767

- page has links to programs to find an installed serial number in Mac or Windows
