Is there any way to verify a key is legitimate?

I have a couple of Adobe software packages that I bought locally in some consignment sales. They are all sealed. I would like to find out if the keys inside are legitimate and not volume license keys - would registering them to my account and contacting Adobe support for verification be enough? I read about people registering their keys only to have them deactivated a year or two later and I want to make sure that doesn't happen.
