Latest version of InDesign won't allow common tasks

How can I do common tasks in InDesign that I've always done.

Option + drag to make a duplicate and shift constrain to drag in same position

Shift constrain to make a drawn line perpendicular

Contraining so it scales proportionately

As far as I know, InDesign's modifier keys—such as shift to constrain proportions—haven't changed in the new version. It may be that something else on your system is interfering with the app. Check out this discussion for suggestions on how to fix a similar issue.
