I sat down this morning to update my websites, (something I only do a couple of times year, if that) only to discover that Adobe have discontinued Muse! As if that's not frustrating enough Muse, has mysteriously disappeared from my list of apps on my mac, and despite what the end of service advice FAQs say, there is no sign of it to re-download amongst the apps on the CC page. Does anybody have any idea where i might download it from? As a follow up question, any top tips on what software to use instead,? I'm an illustrator, not a web designer, muse fitted the bill perfectly.
Hi there,
You should be able to locate Muse in the Older Apps section. To access Older Apps section, navigate to Settings in your Creative Cloud desktop application, select Apps, and enable Show Older Apps.

Brilliant, thank you, that's a relief.

As Ani's reply will help you for the moment, I suggest strongly that you're looking for an alternative as at some point, Muse will stop working (because of OS upgrades) or the code generated will be so outdated that browsers will not show the content correctly.

Thanks Abambo. Sounds like I'll have to put aside a couple of weeks sometime and start again with my websites...... Happy times. I think this is the 3rd time that an app I've used for websites has been axed.

Is it now impossible to access an old MUSE site to gather the info from the pages?

When I try to open my site with Muse, error code 1 comes up. Do I have to be resigned to the fact that my web sites are doomed and I'll have to find another way? Problem is I have no coding experience, am a designer who thought Muse was a grand option (which it was). From what I have seen there is no alternative? Does DW have a low threshold entry level or is it all bangs and whistles only. Look forward to your suggestions.

Ron

Hi kglad, thanks for your reply.
It is happening on both, when launching Muse and also if I retry by opening the .muse file. Same error code 1.

There is no installer in Adobe Cloud or anywhere I can find

By double clicking it, then Muse tries to open but instead comes up with the error message as shown in the attachments. See fileis LasermounterGo.muse

Adobe has suggested in the past that any Adobe applications older than the 2019 versions don't work well or at all on macOS Catalina 10.15 and newer because they might still rely on some 32 bit code to run, so it may just be a case that Muse won't work on macOS Sonoma 14.x.

Hi Jeff, I get it, but, surely there must be something better than Muse by now, simple to use , and, most importantly, allow me to recover my files

I update my OS the day of any upgrade, likewise Muse when updates were available - v.2018.1. Looks like I'll have to start fromn scratch, any advice as to anything comparible with Muse?

i really dislike apps like dreamweaver that are supposed to ease website creation. you still have to learn how to yse the app and are restricted by the app's limitations.
i prefer using a plain text editor and mature libraries like jquery.

thanks for your help, I'll seartch around until I find something halfway good, or, a simple one page with options. I'm amazed that software developers do not think it fit to create a simple means to create a web page without construction restrictions ie can create marvels in Illustrator and Photoshop yet, those layouts cannot be used as is in a web site without serious limitations. I guess if Adobe couldn't solve the issue then who can. Thanks again, time to hide in the deep void.
