i purchased new pscs6 only to find mac book air wouldn't load it.
very poor show of communication from apple and adobe. dont wave the flag about how good you both are when really you are not interested in improving knowledge for customers only using underhand methods for getting more money by providing products that don't work.

When did you purchas Photoshop CS 6?
PS CS6 has not been for sale for years.

CS6 is from 2012... if you want to run old programs, you need an old operating system
Adobe did not do anything to make CS6 stop running... the fault here is all Apple

Where did you recently purchase CS6? As Just Shoot Me says, it has not been sold for years.

You can still revert to Mojave and run CS6.

You must have bought CS6 on eBay. I hope you didn't pay much for it. Maybe you can still get your money back. Personally, I don't understand why anybody would want to use outdated software. Particularly since software has an average shelf life of 3-5 years. Beyond that, unsupported software isn't certified to work on newer operating systems. You use it at your own risk.
Good news! The latest Creative Cloud versions work on Catalina. You just have to match your 2020 OS with compatible software from the same time frame 🙂

Bofore buying software and hardware, you need to check if they fit together.
Unfortuneately, Apple has a history of dumping compatibility to older programs.
As for Adobe, CS6 is quite old and not updated anymore. That is normal as Adobe cannot put-in the resources to update all versions of their software on a continious basis.
You simply acquired 2 pieces that don't fit together.
A different point to consider: there is no possibility to acquire Ps CS6 via a licensed source. And there is no "new" Photoshop CS6 on the market. So it is very possible that your PsCS6 version simply is an illicit copy. I would strongly recommend to wind back the acquisition if that is possible. Please look also here: https://www.adobe.com/genuine.html

And you can buy Photoshop Elements 2020 directly from Adobe. It might be all you need. No subscription required.

From one thrifty computer person to another:
I came to this board to find out if I Purchased for $350 a brand new version of creative Suite 6 if it would work on my new Mac computer or if I had to continue to pay 600 and some odd dollars a year to keep paying for usage of the newest software. The main reason I was checking is because I don't always want to be online to do my work. I'm kind of old-school. So I guess Ive got the truth. I'm not the only thrifty computer geek out here! I'm sorry that you purchased before you came to this community and asked! Everybody's out to make as much money as they can I guess. Somebody can use that old software though. Good luck to you! You can't buy a brand new Creative Suite. That window closed years ago. And CS was not available for 350$.
Subscription is the only legal way to get Adobe Creative Cloud products. The good news is that you do not need to be constantly on-line. Only once each 90 days.
And old software will probably not run on newer Operating Systems. Windows is more permissible than MacOS, but the principle is the same.

"I don't always want to be online to do my work."
And you don't need to be. Creative Cloud is a distribution and payment model only. You do not need Internet access to use your desktop apps except occasionally when updating software, syncing files or activating your license.
Thrifty is one thing but for the type of work I do, CS6 is far too outdated. It's value is the same as a flat tire -- useless.
