Price change during free trial test

I've never used any video editing or effects software before in my life, and in an effort to see if I could and whether it was easy enough to use for me and my son (6) to make videos I decide to google and see whats out there.  I see the creative cloud advertised for £29.98 a month and feel I can justify that as a bit of a hobby for my son and I, so I download the free trial and we spend a few evenings messing about with the software to see what we can do with it.

When its getting close to the end of the trial I make the decision that we can justify the £360 a year to have this software for a bit of fun hobby, only to find that the price changed a couple of days ago and its now £50 a month!  Ive since found this £30 a month was a special offer that ended during the time I was trialling the software.

Ive spoken to support in online chats who have basically said "tough luck".  Its like seeing a car advertised at one price, taking it for a test drive and when you get back to the garage and decide to buy it, they jack the price up over 60%.  Not a great way to gain a pottential new customer as Im now back on google looking for alternatives. £50 a month is well beyond the realms of hobby software imho.

Yes, this is priced as professional software, not hobby software. There is a LOT of good hobby level software around, though this is not the place to ask about it. Other software may also be much easier to learn. There may be another offer sometime but remember they are for a limited subscription: generally you get it cheap for a year then the normal price kicks in.

At £50 it certainly is priced beyond hobby software (yet still marketed as such with various facebook posts etc).  My main issue is that they wont honour the price that I saw when I downloaded the trial.

How am I supposed to know if I want to lay out £360 over a year without testing the software?   I downloaded it, tested it for a couple of evenings and decided I wanted to buy.  Surely its worth honouring the price for anyone who signed up for a trial during the offer period, or was I suppoed to just committ to spending £360 without knowing what the software was like?

Its like seeing a car for sale at £10,000 taking it for a test drive and returning to find they have changed the price to £16,000.

I appreciate subscription prices generally increase at the end of an offer period - its just like they do with Sky TV, but even Sky TV can appreciate its better to have a customer paying £30 a month than to have them researching Virgin Media, which is effectively what Im now doing in regard to video editing and Im looking at other software.

There was a limited time special price advertised. Unfortunately you missed the deadline. Anyhow that was the price for one year and after that it would revert.

Your options with Adobe are Premiere Elements that can be acquired for a one time fee (there exists a bundle with Photoshop Elements). Please note that those programs are not the full fledged professional versions of Premiere and Photoshop, but for beginners they may be easier to learn.

You may also google for free video editing software. Some editors are giving an entry level version away for free.

Yes, it appears I missed the deadline whilst I was testing the software to see if I wanted to buy it in the first place.  It appears however finding somebod at Adobe that can understand the logic in this is proving difficult.

Im offering to give adobe £30 a month as per the rate I saw when I downloaded the trial, but instead of honouring that, they would rather see me research other companies software...  its quite laughable.

This is a user to user forum. There may be Adobe participation. But the ones answering your request for the moment are all users. Adobe is marked as STAFF and has the Adobe logo in the name.

Customer Care have been no use either, its a "computer says no" repsonse.

However, I note that the student and teacher option appears to be open to students, teachers and administrators of schools (both state and private).  As the trustee of a registered private school, I believe this may make me eligible for that package.

Yes! That's an option that's open to you and that gives you a discounted access to the whole cloud software.

Then it appears thats the way I shall have to go.  Ill get the necessary letter from the school and present that to Adobe.

Yes, it's very difficult to talk to someone from Adobe. The chances are they also don't have the power to override Adobe management's pricing policy.
