Old thread but I don't care, would rather piggyback off old ones to show this is still an issue. I had previously spoken to them about software I had bought and already registered with them and it seemed to be resolved. Now I'm getting the pop-up again. Makes me feel like a damn criminal!
Actually, truth be told I think they're doing this on purpose and targeting people who aren't willing to subscribe to their monthly plan...as I'm still using CS5. They do realize if I was pirating it that I wouldn't be dumb enough to register it or contact them, right?
Ok, thank you, AbstractRealist, and I can confirm that the serial number you provided is no longer valid as it has been flagged for piracy. I am sorry this occurred to you and I would recommend verifying your security any anti-malware software is up to date.

Branching to a new discussion.
AbstractRealist, sorry you are facing problems installing Photoshop CS5 for Windows. I reviewed the account you used to post to a public forum discussion and I see that you registered an OEM bundle of Photoshop CS5 for Windows on 5-15-2015.
If this is the copy of Photoshop CS5 that you are attempting to install then I would recommend using the installation files that were provided with your purchase. Since your purchase came as part of a bundle, then it is very likely you will need the installation files that were tied to that bundle. If you used the normal retail installation files for Photoshop CS5 then I would expect you to receive a message that the serial number is invalid.
Can you please confirm which specific error you are receiving, AbstractRealist? If you are receiving a message stating that the software is not genuine then can you please post a screenshot of the error? For information on how to post a screenshot see FAQ: How do I capture and post a screen shot or video? .
For details on how to locate your registered serial numbers then see Find your serial number .

I chatted with somebody already and they told me the serial was invalid. So I'm out of options according to the one I chatted with. My LR version is legit but not CS5. At this time I'm not willing to pay for a subscription since I already spent $370 on pirated software.
I just wish your system was better because when I went to register it, it would have notified me it was invalid and I could have gotten a refund. He offered me 3 months "free" of the photographer subscription but I just don't feel right about it after nearly 5 years owning this software. I have no way to ever have verified that this was invalid, only going by your word now after 5 years...so it just doesn't feel right to me. Only validation I have is that I was able to register it...he said that registration and the serial numbers were two separate things (then why even have the registration?).
Just makes me extra upset that the last time I chatted with somebody they told me my software was fine, gave me a new download link, and after I redownloaded it, it worked fine for over 5 months. Looking at the file it was from January 2nd, so I guess that's when I last chatted. Not sure what changed since then, when I was told it was valid.

I'm debating doing a subscription or not...but right now just don't feel right about it. Only way I have to check if it was valid is if I could register it, which I could. He said he can't offer me CS5 anymore, can only do the subs...

Ah I was just hitting reply in my messages, assumed it was only in my messages. And not sure why it posted that serial, it was supposed to be the case #.
