Updating Photoshop CS6 - update failed

I have tried at least half a dozen times to update Photoshop CS6 and keep getting the following message:

Update failed

Errors encountered during installation (U44M1P7)

When I click on "More details", it just sends me to a list of installation files.

It seems pointless to pay for CS6 on CC if I can't get the updates.

What should I do?
