What is AdobeGCClient.exe?

Hello,

What does the program adobegcclient.exe do? I mean, specifically, what does it do? I'd like to know what functions it performs (again, specifically) and why it's apparently included in Adobe CC.

There was a question last year about it interfering with an antivirus program. That is not what I'm asking.

I tried this myself, then had 2 techs from Adobe try the same thing. CC has been uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times in the last week. This is a waste of time. I will need to look for alternatives to Adobe.

What I'm most interested in knowing is: what will my computer do if I disable this process?

It's taking up so much CPU/disk space. Will it render my product unusable if I have a legit copy? Will it alert Adobe that my account isn't responding to authentication?

I'm already testing it out myself, but am ready to re-enable it if necessary. So far nothing has changed, but I didn't try rebooting or anything. Can still use all my programs I got in the suite. I get WHY Adobe has this thing, but it's punishing the honest customers!

You cannot disable this. I have disabled the service and it continues to run.

I have been fighting an issue with one of my PC's for a couple months now. Windows 10 will boot and I can login and then it will freeze. It usually goes to a black screen and then eventually will go back to the login screen. Sometimes it will do this 5+ times before it will function correctly. Today I disabled all startup services and it started to work perfectly. One by one I started the services back up. Well, the Adobe GC Invoker Utility looks like the culprit. Adobe really needs correct this mess.

Hey, I. could really use some help. I stumbled upon, well a hacker or group of hackers I guess. I found this forum, because the log file on my Mac shows that they spent roughly 16 hours or so this weekend injecting my laptop with something related to a "semaphore" not sure what that means, but there was a lot of banter in this log file about discovering NGL products. I had to look that up, but apparently that's used for gasoline I think. I don't know. I'm attaching this Adobe log file showing the details of this ridiculous hacking attempt by what I can only assume are bored "peace keepers" and I'll let the proof speak for itself. I had to press cmd shift period to reveal this file. and then it took hours before I found it, but after being hacked and three months worth of work ruined along with my reputation I figured I'd do some investigating, before deleting and wiping my Mac clean which I don't think would help. So, here's the file and dialogue happening on my core files between two hackers Sunday afternoon to Monday morning, 1.AM or so. If someone could just confirm I'm being paranoid, that would be wonderful but this doesn't look good.

Ken, just for your peace of mind, this log is just Adobe own record of what it has been up on your rmachine. There are no human actors involved. Like most software, Adobe's software logs what the actions it performs so that, in the event of an error occurring an analysis can be performed using this data. It's not a hack attempt. You have misunderstood what this file represents. In this case this appears to be Adobe's kit self-updating to the latest version. The semaphore you mention is just a mechanism to allow different parts of your computer to talk to each other. NGL in this context is nothing to do with Natural Gas (you read the first entry on google, I assume?) It is Adobe's acronym for their licensing model, I believe. This is all nothing to worry about.

There seems to be little follow up about this program. It's constantly being blocked by windows defender and uses system resources. Is there a way to disable or uninstall it to make it less of a resource hog?
