You can always regain access by subscribing for another month, and go on as desired month by month with or without breaks in between; or if your need makes it more desirable switch to an annual subscription, the monthly price being lower.

... and sure, there is also the annual subscription paid on the month, which can be cancelled only at the end of the years term!

To summarize:

• month to month subscription can be cancelled for the end of each month, but renews automatically if not cancelled.
• annual subscription paid month by month can be cancelled only at the last month without an early termination fee. It renews automatically at the end of the annual term!
• annual subscription prepaid for a whole year can be cancelled anytime and stays accessible until the end of the term. If not cancelled, it renews automatically.

Any subscription does the following to your data and programs when your subscription runs out:

• the programs stop working or in the case of Lightroom go into a "light" mode.
• the adobe id account reverts to the free account with only 2Gb of cloud space instead of the 20Gb, 100Gb or the 1Tb or more of cloud space, depending on your subscription type. The standard for a single app subscription is 100Gb. A second app, however, does not give access to additionalr 100Gb. You can upgrade cloud storage in Tb steps.
• Your data, saved locally on your computer, stays accessible to you for any operation you intend to do. So all of your work can be opened and re-edited at a later stage, when you decide to take a new subscription or when you acquire a third party program that can open and modify the data file in question.

With a month to month subscription you need an internet connection each 30 days. For an annual subscription the internet connection is required at least each 99 days for a short period of time. You do not need necessarily store your data to the cloud and all programs run locally on your computer.
