I hope you can help me.
I'm trying to downgrade my Adobe design/photo software back to CS 4, which I have on CD. I have cancelled my CC subscription.
I've been talking to Adobe Support over the last 24 hours. They can't get it to install. I get major installation errors and trouble with Adobe Cleaner Tool, which just freezes—both installing CS 4 from my CD and from the Adobe software link they provide.
Is Adobe CS 4 not compatible with Yosemite 10.10.5 after all? I had researched all of this and had read it was compatible. There is some kind of conflict—or leftover Adobe CC data in the system?—that prevents me from installing it on the same computer and OS that it was on before I had to upgrade to CC a few years back.
Something in the CC upgrade made my CS 4 deactivated and from what I've been reading from other Adobe CC users, it was intentional on the part of Adobe.
I just saw a post that talks about using an external hard drive and booting an older OS on that. https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-10421
Any help is appreciated!

As soon as you install any part of the Cloud, even a trial, it replaces your program management system

You need to completely remove ALL parts of the cloud

Thank you for your response. Yes, as I mention in my post, I have tried using the cleaner tool many times, and multiple Adobe chat support specialists have been unable to help me. I learned the hard way that Cloud replaces my existing Adobe applications, and now I'm trying to go backward in application-version time to be able to use CS4 on the same OS that it had worked on in the past.

John T Smith, sorry I somehow had posted twice in Adobe Community. No harm intended. Thanks.

CS4 is obsolete software that was released in 2008. It's not certified or tested to work on modern operating systems. See CS4 system requirements.

Assuming you have a
you could theoretically use it for 12 more years providing you never upgrade your equipment or operating system.

Thank you for your response. I had researched this quite extensively, to prepare for the day if and when I would revert to CS4 from CC.
I have tried installing CS4 with the downloaded installer provided by Adobe support as well as with the original CD I have of my CS4.
The serial number is properly registered on my Adobe profile.
The cleaner tool crashes or just simply stops.
The first Adobe support specialist I chatted with about this told me to simply throw all of my Adobe CC apps and files in the trash then empty it. I did that. But I had remembered that the uninstallers should be used. So I'm not sure which answer or way is the best at this point.
Here is my system info below. I just did a system search, and it looks like Java Runtime Environment 1.5 is not installed or I've taken it out of my system in the past. I assume it would be in Applications if it were installed in my system?
I'll try to install Java and hopefully that will help! Please let me know if you have ANY other suggestions or feedback. I totally appreciate it!
