Downloading for the first time on new laptop. Question coming up asking, "do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device yes or no ?". Not sure what to select here or what the Pros and cons are.

Say yes and the programs will install, say no and they won't and you cancel your subscription during the grace period

Your operating system or firewall is just asking you if you trust the application you are opening or installing to do things on your computer.  You may stop that message from appearing if you wish, but if you are a computer novice, I suggest that you let it ask you.

Bear in mind that apps you install become a trusted part of your system. It's asking whether you trust the supplier to put things on your computer, it's a normal question.
