Dreamedia, what type of Creative Cloud membership are you using to install and use Adobe XD?  I do not see any memberships assigned to the e-mail address you used to post to this public forum.

Are you installing Adobe XD on a computer, and network, that you personally manage, Dreamedia.  If so then do you have any questions on how to implement the solutions listed in Error code 191 when installing XD on Windows ?

The OP is not the only one having this issue - shall all affected create a separate thread and spam the forum?

Why does the error 191 come up with the latest update? Why do all other Adobe apps install without any issues (as does literally any other program I tried to install on my pc)? Why do users have to edit the registry(!), work with command prompts and format (!!!) and reinstall windows to get this working? Adjusting permissions within the Windows folders? This can't be serious.

Sorry for the cynicism - after trying most of the 10 tips (with the exception of formatting and getting dev license) for 3-4 hours yesterday and today, I am somewhat tired of fighting with the clumsy cc installer, which decides that it cannot update a software...

Bishonen88, I am sorry but Adobe XD is utilizing the Universal Windows Platform to install.  As opposed to the majority of the applications which use the Windows Installer.  You can find more about UWP at What's a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app? - Windows UWP applications | Microsoft Docs .

This is why there are different solutions listed for Error 191 at Error code 191 when installing XD on Windows  that are listed for our other applications.  These steps are necessary to allow UWP installations to succeed.

If you do have any questions on how to implement the solutions listed in Error code 191 when installing XD on Windows then please update this public forum discussion.  If you would like direct assistance with resolving the error, then please contact our support team at Contact Customer Care to begin a chat session.

How about you guys just fix your software? Personally, as a designer, I don't care about UWP... besides, sending us off to hunt through the Microsoft site for a solution is like condemning us to hell...

I do have a Creative Cloud membership attached to this e-mail address and it is currently on the Adobe XD monthly plan. Also I do personally manage the computer and have systematically completed each and every step in the troubleshooting document save for acquiring a Windows developer license or reformatting the computer, neither of which are reasonable "solutions" for a company to suggest with a straight face.

I have also tried running the CC Cleaner Tool to completely remove the Creative Cloud Desktop App and all previous installations of Adobe XD. I then restarted, reinstalled Creative Cloud, and attempted to install Adobe XD again. It resulted in the same error, as expected:

I should note that version 17.0.12.11 installs just fine through the Creative Cloud Desktop application. So we know UWP installation is working. Therefore it is a problem specifically with the latest XD update, which would suggest it is something on Adobe's end. Any word on a fix anytime soon?

This is the error received when trying to update from v17 to v18:

I have the exact same issue as Dreamedia. In powershell after "Get-AppxLog -All" command I get:

"AppX Deployment operation failed for package Adobe.CC.XD_18.0.12.9_x64__adky2gkssdxte with error 0x80073CFB. The specific error text for this failure is: Deployment of package Microsoft.VCLibs.140.00.UWPDesktop_14.0.25426.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe was blocked because the provided package has the same identity as an already-installed package but the contents are different. Increment the version number of the package to be installed, or remove the old package for every user on the system before installing this package."

Thanks to your post, I fixed it. I googled the error code (0x80073CFB), and on some forum a chap recommended going to the store and updating itself (the store). 5 minutes later, I click update on 'XD' and it runs without any concerns anymore....

If this helps you guys, too, perhaps weI can be hired by Adobe?

Try opening the windows store (type in microsoft store when you hit the windows key), on top, click on the 3 dots (settings) and open downloads and updates. There, you will most likely find the Microsoft Store itself being not updated - click on update, close the store and try to install XD again.

I am also getting this error and have tried all the steps in the troubleshooting page. How is it possible v.17 installs just fine but v.18 continues to throw the 191 error? Doesn't make sense.

I solved this by reinstalling microsoft's "App Installer" from microsoft store (it comes with windows, but many "things" come with windows so probably many users just think it is bloatware and remove it on a fresh install) , this allowed XD installer to install the appx files mentioned in the log and finish installing successfully. Hope this helps someone, took me many hours of research to realise it.

I found the answer…

You need to update the Microsoft Store App.

In your list of programs locate Microsoft Store App and run it. In the top right hand corner you’ll see three dots, click on it. From the sub menu select downloads and updates. Scroll down the list until you find Microsoft Store, click update. The update will install. Now try installing XD in exactly the same way as before, success!!!

I’m not sure this will work for everyone but in my case I’d searched the net and jumped though all of the hoops without joy. The reason that the OS reload works is that the store app auto updates during the install process.

My issue was caused because I block the store from updating Group Policy Edit and remove the majority of the MS bloatware, this trims my menu structure but it’s a double edged sword, apparently.

If you’d like information on how to block the store from auto updating the MS bloatware then drop me line.

Good luck…

Al

Adobe should really be fixing this so that it works without the Windows Store update.

For example, inside the company where I work with xD daily, the windows store is blocked by policy by IT Security.
We are now unable to update Adobe xD which is a big issue for Enterprise account holders.

I am sorry, Norbertg86648904, but Adobe XD utilizes UWP for the installation process on Windows operating systems.  Please continue to apply any updates to the Microsoft Store so that you can apply future Adobe XD updates.  You may need to work with your I.T. department if this is going to be an ongoing issue with applying those updates.

You can find more information about the Universal Windows Platform at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uwp/get-started/universal-application-platform-guide.

Mac OS installations do not utilize UWP, so you may want to look at switching platforms if your I.T. department is not able to keep the components of UWP up to date.

Hello everyone,

Recently, I want to install Adobe XD 35.3.12.2  on my win 10, 64 bit, but it fails and gives me error code 191.

I tried everything that has been mentioned in different forums and communities, such as updating Microsoft Store, being in Admin account, and so on, but nothing works.

I would be really grateful, if you help me in this matter.
