FAQ: What is Creative Cloud and how does it work?

Creative Cloud is a membership that gives you access to the latest versions of all the Adobe professional creative desktop applications (such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and others) with new features and upgrades as soon as they're available. Creative Cloud is offered as annual or monthly membership.

You install the Creative Cloud desktop app first, which is used to manage your account, and you use it to install the apps you wish to use.

You can launch and update apps from the Creative Cloud desktop app. You can also use it to manage and share your assets stored in Creative Cloud; download Adobe fonts, and showcase and discover creative work on Behance.

You can install and sign in on two computers, Mac or PC, but licensing restricts you from using it on both computers simultaneously.  You also get cloud storage and file syncing capabilities so you can access your files wherever you are, even on your mobile device.

If you purchase your membership directly from the Adobe website, membership begins as soon as the order is fulfilled by the Adobe Store.  If you purchase your individual membership at a participating retailer or online store, it begins as soon as you redeem your redemption code on creative.adobe.com/redeem and click Get Started. If you purchase a team membership through a participating reseller, your membership begins when you're assigned a seat from your account.

Memberships automatically renew at the end of the committed time period (annual or monthly) unless you cancel. For pre-paid annual memberships, if you cancel within the first 14 days, you receive a full refund. If you cancel after 14 days, you get a refund of 50% of the remaining months. If you cancel your membership, you will still have access to files in the Creative Cloud folder on your computer and via the Creative Cloud website, but you will no longer have access to run the apps. Your account will also be downgraded to a free membership, which includes 2GB of storage

Creative Cloud applications are installed directly on your computer, so you don't need an ongoing Internet connection to use them on a daily basis. You need an internet connection the first time you install and license your apps, but you can use the apps in offline mode with a valid software license. The apps will attempt to validate your software licenses every 30 days. Annual members can use the apps for up to 99 days in offline mode. Month-to-month members can use the software for up to 30 days in offline mode.
