Cannot activate PS CS6 Software

I've not used my CS6 software in quite a few years and started up Photoshop. In the help menu it has no options to activate or sign in, but it does have Deactivate greyed out. What I do want to do is deactivate the software to rebuild the PC, but cannot figure out whether it is currently activated or deactivated because menu doesn't allow one action or the other.

Any ideas what is going on?

If deactivate is gray, it's already deactivated.  But unused software can become corrupted over time.

Use Adobe Cleaner tools to remove old files from your system. It works for CC as well as older CS products.

Also, run it and leave it for a few minutes, in case it takes time to connect and be ready for deactivating.
