I have this same issue. Can't do updates - message says ccxprocess prevented update. I do not understand your suggestion "use your activity monitor to terminate it" How would I do that?

Hi, cpmomcat,
Hopefully, this will help you or other people experiencing the same problem. I woke my MBP today to find this issue.
1. Search for activity monitor using spotlight. I usually do this by hitting CMD+SPACE BAR then typing in whatever it is I need, in this case, "activity monitor"
2. Click on the "CPU" tab and search for ccxprocesses.
3. Hit the stop sign with an x in it.
4. Try to run updates again overnight. If you use adobe CC, maybe do this before you leave the office or go to bed so it won't do anything to your work.
*note I have only just done this, will post back tomorrow if it doesn't work.

Hello, Just following-up on whether or not killing the ccxprocess in activity monitor worked for you. I have killed that process and all Creative Cloud processes on my Mac and I still cannot get the Secutity Update 2005 005 10-13-6 to install on my system. When I try and shutdown or reboot I get an arrow in the middle of the screen, that moves to the upper left on a black screen then just hangs. I let it run all night and it never fixes itself. If I tell the update to install overnight, it stays up but says the install and restart "ccxprocess prevented installing this update from being installed". I booted into safe mode, I reinstalled the OS but still cannot reboot the mac or install the security update. I was wondering if it worked for you when you force quit ccxprocess through activity monitor.
