As to the Subscription or to installation?

For the subscription NO. It is either the All Apps plan or selecting the 2-3-whatever number of individual Apps and paying the single price for all of them (Single App plan TIMES 2-3-whatever).

But you do not need to install any of the Apps you do not want or need. I have the App Apps plan and only installed LR Classic, PS, Bridge, Premier Pro and Acrobat DC.

I am afraid no custom selection of apps is available except choosing single apps that you have already discovered.

I totally agree with you! I TOO only want to pick the apps I want. Adobe's pricing is absurd. It's like: "pay $40 for photoshop, or pay $52 for all apps. So, what would you like to do?" If you need Photoshop and Illustrator, it's an obvious choice that they force you into. It shouldn't be this way. It should be a "Pick your apps" solution.

The thing is, the typical professional uses 3-4 apps. That's all. So, the pricing model is based on that. Only a few multi-media specialists and hobbyists use a lot of the apps.

you can pick the apps you want.  there's just no special bargain for selecting 2 or 3 or 4 apps.

adobe's priced their subscriptions so it would be wasteful to do anything other than:

pick one app,

pick the photography plan or

pick one app plus the photography plan, or

select all apps.

I can't tell if @kglad or @Test Screen Name are hardcore Adobe fans or what, but here's what I'll say.

  1. A professional typically uses Photoshop and Illustrator, yet there's no bundle that has BOTH. You either buy both individually, or just waste an extra $12 or so to get all apps to maybe use other Adobe products that you could live without.
  2. Adobe's pricing models are not based on what "Typical Professionals" want. The products are bundled strategically to make it annoying for people to choose, and therefore just opt for the "All apps" option.
  3. A pricing plan should be based on what consumers want. I want to be able to pick and choose what I want. Adobe's pricing should be flexible to not just accomodate "typical professionals", but literally everyone - freelancer, business, personal, student, etc. It would be if you could pick your own apps to subscribe to.
  4. To say "you can pick the apps you want" shows you have totally missed the point. The point is, Adobe forces you into narrow bundles. If you do pick two apps, the price is almost at the SAME PRICE THAT YOU WOULD PAY... if you bought "All apps."
  5. "There's no special bargain." Right. That's the point. Also, If all apps cost $52, make it an logarithmic growth curve that approaches $52, but doesn't give you a huge discount up-front. It's easily modelable and makes the most sense.
  6. Both of you are just making my case for me, but it seems like you're trying to argue in-favor of Adobe, which, I don't know why you would want to do that when they are the ones not giving you purchase options and flexible app selection. Maybe you're just used to it.

Nobody here had any input on Adobe's business model or pricing. We are just explaining what Adobe offers.
