I am experiencing one frustration after another trying to down load and install CS6.  Now it seems my "Support Advisor" software wants me to open a support ticket, but I have no idea how.  Thanks!

Support for CS6 finished in 2017 (3 years after this discussion started). It would be impossible now to open a support ticket for this unsupported product. CS6 was superseded by Creative Cloud.

I keep seeing the same answer and link from Adobe Help about using the help center but I don't see any way to actually open a ticket. Adobe support is sorely lacking!

what doesn't work that's expected to work?

if you expect anything related to ca6 and adobe support (other than an activation count reset), that's unrealistic. ie, as previously mentioned, there's none.

if you want to see if you can get help via this forum, post the problem you're having.
