Hello,

I have some issues with my Photoshop, Bridge and ACR installation and believe I need to use the "Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool". See Camera Raw UI color scheme suddenly changed , for details on my problem. I am running Windows 10 x64.

When trying to find the tool, I see several different versions. The newest one seems to be version 3.7.5.17, @2016, signed 17 Jan 2017. Found it here: Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems (the article does not mention Win 10, only Win 8 and older).

Is this the recommended version to clean a CC installation with:

  • Adobe Photoshop Version : 2017.0.1 20161130.r.29
  • Bridge Version  : 2017 Release - 7.0.0.93 x64
  • Adobe Camera Raw Version: 9.9.0.718  ?

Also, I have Lightroom CC (version 2015.9). Do I need to uninstall Lightroom also before running the "Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool"?

Hi again!
As far as I can see the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool did not do anything useful.

After running the tool I can still see all the usual CC stuff in:
   C:\Users\jjoha\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\...

and also the usual registry entries are there.

It looks like nothing has been cleaned.
When looking at the log (see below), there seems to be a mismatch between what the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool expects and what is actually on the system: "DB does not exist at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\caps\Media_db.db". This file is present when CC apps are installed, but is not present when the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool is run (after having uninstalled all apps) (I do see "caps.db", "hdpim.db" and "pdp.dp". Note: "caps.db" has a date modified time of 24.01.2016, while the others have been modified today).

Uninstallation (step 1 and 2 above) was successful. When uninstalling the cc desktop app, I had however to run "Creative Cloud Uninstaller.exe" twice as on the first attempt is said that it could not install as the app was in use. I also did the extra reboot mentioned in "Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems", (step 5) before running AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.exe. Steps 1-4 seems to be redundant (uninstallation already performed)?

I have not yet installed the apps again in case there are something that can be done to the cleaning first.

When running the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool, I selected the following options:

Please choose a language: e
Please enter (y) for Yes or (n) for No. ... >> y
Choose from one of the following options to clean up : 3.  Creative Cloud 2017, 2015, 2014, Creative Cloud & CS6 Products
List of products installed on this machine: 1   Clean All.   <<== NOTICE: there are no products listed (only "Clean All") ! ===
Type (y) to confirm and remove or (n) to quit ... >> y

Please wait for Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to finish........

proceed with installing the cc desktop app and then using the app to install ps only.

if that appears successful, open ps and make sure it works correctly.  if it does, install bridge and (if desired) lr.

Hello, and thanks for the feedback!

I have now installed the CC Desktop App (works OK), Photoshop (works OK) and Bridge (works OK).

However, my original problem persists (see: Camera Raw UI color scheme suddenly changed )!

I am almost back to where I started (Bridge even comes up with my original UI color settings, workspaces, the "Double-Click Edits Camera Raw Settings in Bridge" is checked etc. The Camera Raw settings are my old settings. Photoshop however, comes up without my workspaces. I did select to clear preferences when uninstalling Photoshop, Bridge and Lightroom.

I guess this is to be expected since nothing was cleaned after running the AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.exe as far as can see (lots of Photoshop, Bridge, ACR and Lighroom stuff still in C:\Users\jjoha\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\ and in the registry).

It is a bit suspicious that the log and command line printout of AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.exe seems to indicate the there are no products to clean (should the tool be run without uninstalling app first?):

[Thu Mar 30 13:01:26 2017] List of products installed on this machine

[Thu Mar 30 13:01:26 2017] Listing products for cleanup:

[Thu Mar 30 13:01:26 2017] Please enter the option number of the product you wish to remove; enter (q) to quit ... >>

   ...

There is only one option listed:

   1   Clean All

Also, Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems , does not mention Windows 10 (indicating that the info is quite old). It also recommends another way of uninstalling the CC apps (even though I assume that the two methods are equivalent).

So, I guess that I am back to needing a way to clean up a previous CC installation before reinstalling (or maybe another way to fix my original problem).

(Should I create a new tread for the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool problem, the tread Title is now a bit misleading?)
