Gday, migrating to a new macbook and having troubles with Illustrator, i understand i need rosetta and the updated version of illustrator however when i try to update or reinstall the CC desktop app is not working. can scroll through the menu's but cant click on anything? very strange and frustrating any advice?

do not use migration assistant with adobe programs. if you did not, explain what you did.
if that's what you've done, try and undo all the changes by using time machine and then properly install cc from here https://creativecloud.adobe.com/apps/all/desktop?action=install&source=apps&productId=creative-cloud and use it to install your adobe subscription and trial programs. if you have trouble downloading, use the alternative download site at page bottom here, https://helpx.adobe.com/in/download-install/kb/creative-cloud-desktop-app-download.html
if you used migration asst and are unable to restore your computer to a time before you did that:
uninstall every cc app including preferences, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html
then uninstall the cc desktop app, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html
clean your computer of cc files per http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
restart your computer (don't skip this)
reinstall the cc desktop app, https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/download-install/kb/creative-cloud-desktop-app-download.html
if you're unable to install the cc desktop app at this stage, use the link at the bottom of the page at https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/download-install/kb/creative-cloud-desktop-app-download.html
use the desktop app to install your cc programs/trials
