Good morning,
I am having trouble with the 2020 versions of Photoshop and InDesign, and this problem may apply to other Adobe products too. Whenever I highlight text and try to change the font using the bar at the top my computer crashes. Sometimes I get the blue screen, sometimes it just restarts. This does not happen when using older versions of Adobe software, e.g. the 2019 versions.
I have tried uninstalling creative cloud and all the Adobe Apps I use, but upon reinstalling Photoshop the problem persists.
I have tried following the instructions here https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/photoshop/kb/troubleshoot-fonts-photoshop.html - I have updated to the latest version; turned off Font Preview; used the FontTest script (which didn't find a problem); deleted the CT Font Cache folder; and deleted the Windows *FontCache*.dat files (though I was unable to find a way to delete them all as they were "being used by another program"). However, the problem persists.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do to solve this problem? I can always use an older version of the software for now, but this isn't an ideal solution going forward.
Thank you!
I seem to have found a solution - for now at least. Here is an outline which might help anyone else that has this problem:
(i) uninstall Photoshop
(ii) deactivate all my fonts in the list under "My Adobe Fonts" on Adobe Fonts.
(iii) restore Windows 10 fonts to default settings (i.e. get rid of other fonts)
(iii) re-install Photoshop
I'm guessing that somehow one of the fonts I had got corrupted and this has somehow got rid of it. At any rate, changing font has yet to cause a crash.
