So My mom is a graphical designer, and since she has been working on an old mac, and we had a spare one, we decided to upgrade her mac. The only problem is that the version of photoshop, InDesign, and illustrator is before they went over to a subscription-based plan. Right now it's not a possibility for her to do a monthly fee, is there a way to transfer the old programs to the new mac, and if so, what version of mac os will I need to run it? Currently, she has photoshop version 12.0.4, InDesign version 7.0.4 and Illustrator version 15.0.2

You may not copy/transfer programs from one computer to another... you must do a new install

Put your disc in the drive and enter your serial number when asked

Buy a USB disc drive... should be less than $30

Adobe has removed all download links for CS6 and earlier, so your existing disc is your only option

Before messing around with the CD, check the system. New macs run Catalina (OS 10.15). Catalina does not run ANY old software, Apple made sure EVERYONE has to upgrasde. In the case of the apps you mention that's a subscription needed. It's all part of the Joy of Mac.  If you are running an older macOS they MIGHT work. But we can't tell you more as you don't say what version of Creative Suite you have. Many can no longer be installed at all, licensing stopped.

Another option is to roll back the OS on the system you upgraded to the one that worked.

Whenever you make a change to the hardware, OS, or software, it's a good to check for compatibility first.

The current software copy you have is the only thing that can help you install the adobe software.

Try copying the software on a USB and putting it on a USB drive.

In my experience transferring old software from one computer HD to another never works.  The installation routine is essential to change key system registry files so the software can be activated.  And without an optical reader and a compatible OS, that won't be possible.

Moreover, legacy Creative Suite installers are not compatible with Sierra , High Sierra or Mojave.  You will need to use terminal workarounds.

Finally, Catalina is a non-starter with outdated 32-bit software.  If you ever get CS6 working, don't ever upgrade the OS.  Eventually, mom's going to need modern software.  So start budgeting for it now.
