After checking the different settings with no success I found that having first installed a trial copy of PS and having registered separately on the Adobe site the reason for inability to access the Adobe server was simply due to the fact that the trial copy after the expiry date was blocking any link to the server.

Opening PS and connecting from there to my Adobe account allowed access to ACC and relevant content.

I did some further investigation.

I enabled the firewall log to see which connections are allowed and which are blocked by the firewall.

I disabled windows defender real-time protection.

I disabled windows smart screen.

Then I tried to install the creative cloud apllication, this failed.

The windows firewall log showed 'Allow' for every connection.

No, I simply loaded a trial copy and after the expiry date, separately registered for ACC on the main page.

After checks on possible firewalls or other system blocks ,simulating from the trial copy of PS the registration process I was routed to my account where the registration was of course present and all was right.

Not clear how and why but it worked.

Ok thanks for the update Guidoc15433294.

Did you use the process listed in Learn how to download your Adobe Creative Cloud apps to evaluate Photoshop CC 2017?  The normal trial process does not add entries to prevent a a different membership from being seen.  Regardless it sounds like any connectivity failures have been resolved Maarten4132652.

Ok thanks Guidoc15433294.  Please make sure to use the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application for any future installations as discussed in Learn how to download your Adobe Creative Cloud apps .

As a preventative measure I would recommend running an anti-virus scan on the computer.  To make sure there is no other remaining effects of the Photoshop trial installation.
