Retain check box properties?

I need to make a long list with active check boxes, and I want to customize the size and style of thoe checks, but when I create the next check box, the format has reverted to the original default. Checking the "locked" box doesn't seem to to do anything.

How do I retain my customized properties so that I can just keep creating new boxes without having to modify the format of each individual box as I go? Is there a way to make my preferences permanent throughout the document? Thanks.

Create forms in HTML code.  Use a global stylesheet (CSS code) to control appearance.
