Updating Adobe Photoshop Elements 12

Did I purchase the CD about 6 years ago? I am very much computer illiterate. Could somebody please explain to me how to update Photoshop?

i'm not sure why you're asking us what you purchased but you can check if you purchased from or registered with adobe by checking the account used to purchase/register, https://accounts.adobe.com

and i'm not sure what photoshop has to to with photoshop elements but you can update by opening the program and clicking help > updates.
