I am barely using Adobe Pro DC - I share a pdf with one other device about three times a month and occasionally highlight text in another document.  Is there a cheaper or free program I can use instead of shelling out over £15 a month?

The company name is Adobe, the program name is Acrobat

If you are not creating the PDF the free Reader may work https://get.adobe.com/reader

Do be aware than cancelling a subscription early has a fee of 1/2 of the remaining time

Thanks, but I suspect the Reader would not allow me to share a pdf with
someone else?

There are lots of ways to share files, which don't involve Adobe products. Of course you'd have to save the file, then share it with another way.
