Site Search stops working often and unexpectedly

New Here ,

Hi,

The Site Search for the latest version (21.2, Mac OS 12.4) stops working unexpectedly and often (I have too much work to do to try identifying which circumstances cause this). This happens multiple times on a daily basis, as part of normal development work, to the point where I decided to post this. (Since I barely used it last year I can't say whether it was a problem with a previous version)

I would start being able to use the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+F on a set of folders to retrieve search results, but at some point after editing files etc, performing another search would bring up the dialog box, but do nothing at all when I click on 'Find All'. It doesn't matter which folders/files are selected in the Files window.

Thus far, the only workaround I've found that seems to consistently 'reset' Dreamweaver (without quitting and reopening it) is to open a random file for viewing; then I am able to use the search shortcut again. Dreamweaver appears to end up in some internal state during the normal work process (editing, local file search - could this be confusing Dreamweaver - , transferring files) whereby search is no longer able to work.

thanks

@theresel40601256,

Bugs are repeatable.

  • Can you repeat this on other sites or is this only happening in one defined site?
  • Which operating system?
  • Have you validated code in each document and fixed all reported errors?
  • Are you working in Design View or Live View?
  • Is this as a Basic or Advanced Search?
  • What search parameters are you using?  On approximately how many files? etc...

The more details you provide, the easier it is for others to troubleshoot.
