Can't connect with server via SFTP or FTP over SSL

Hello,

The only working connection is FTP, while the other types don't succeed.

Error: An FTP error occured - Cannot make connection to host.
An unknown error occured.

Type of connection: Connect using FTP over SSL/TLS (Implicit encryption)

Port: 990

FTP address: ftp.domain.com

Authentication: Trusted Server
More options (Checked): Use Passive FTP and Use FTP Performance Optimization

Please i need help to secure the connection. DW v19.0

Try connecting with FileZilla free S/FTP client.  If FileZilla fails to connect, contact your web hosting provider to verify you have the proper log-in credentials and settings for you server.

Hi,

Yes i can connect using Filezilla. I'm the server administrator. Using the same credentials on standard unsecure FTP I can connect DW successfuly.

Which did you connect with in Filezilla? SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) and FTPS (FTP-SSL) are 2 different technologies.  Also in DW if you click on Site-->Advanced-->FTP Log, what is the error number being returned during your issue?

Filezilla connect using protocol : FTP File Transfer and Encryption: Use explicit FTP over TLS if available.

FTP log contain almost nothing:

Using port 990
Using port 990

Can you try changing Trusted Server on authentication and switch to None/encryption only?

I'm a web developer, not a server admin.  So forgive me if I seem out of my wheel house.  But if your server was expecting FTPS connection, why would it still allow you to use insecure FTP?  I don't think this is a Dreamweaver issue as much as it's a server configuration issue, yes?

I appreciate you advice.. I have access to the vps server, i checked teh following:

Main >> Service Configuration >> FTP Server Configuration

Set TLS Encryption Support to optional

It was set to the correct value.

If neither the latest version of FileZilla nor DW can connect securely, something is missing from your recipe.  I don't know what that missing ingredient is, sorry.
