Hi.

After installation of spry 1.6.1 updater extension I failed to find any changes either in Spry toolbar or in Spry menu. I'm interested in Radio & RadioGroup validation widget, but can not fin corresponding buttons/menu items. Other widgets from standard (pre 1.6.1) works fine and I'm using them for a long time. Tell me, please, what I'm doing wrong and maybe not doing something right. )))

Thanks in advance.

You won't. The extension updates the Spry external JavaScript files only.

You're not bothering to read the details of the Updater on the Adobe site:

"This extension only updates existing Spry files in Dreamweaver CS3 and
those used in your sites. It does not add any additional functionality
(widgets, etc) to the product."

Thanks, David, for fast reply. But that was not the answer I counted on either. :))) Ok, I'll be more specific. Since 1.6.1 does include RadioButton Validation the question is:
Is absence of buttons/menu items for new widgets connected to prerelease status of current Spry 1.6.1 and to use those widgets I need configure them manually (by adding/copying .js & .css files etc.)?

It's due to the fact that Dreamweaver CS3 shipped with Spry 1.4. A weird
principle of US tax law called "revenue recognition" means that new
features, such as widgets, cannot be added to Dreamweaver CS3 without
charging for them. Consequently, you get the updated Spry scripts, which
were always free, but they are not integrated into the Dreamweaver user
interface.

So, to cut a long story short, you need to hand code the new widgets.
Alternatively, you can use Dreamweaver CS4, which does include the new
widgets. CS4 is currently available as a public beta from
labs.adobe.com. The official announcement of when it will be released is
on Tuesday 23 September.

Thanks a lot for your answer, David. Short and clear. While awaiting your reply I've read through docs & samples and found out how to use new spry widgets. And of course I'm looking forward to grab my copy of Dreamweaver CS4 as soon as it'll be availale. Spry is very cool framework (reminds me jQuery somehow) and I hope that there will be a lot of great new features.

If you let me ask the final question, will there be ADDT in/for CS4?

Bes regards,
Serge Goujon

The current version of ADDT is not compatible with CS4. However, Adobe
has stated in the public beta forum that a compatible version of ADDT
will be released. I have no idea when it will be released, or what it
contains. Sorry.
