It's due to the fact that Dreamweaver CS3 shipped with Spry
1.4. A weird
principle of US tax law called "revenue recognition" means
that new
features, such as widgets, cannot be added to Dreamweaver CS3
without
charging for them. Consequently, you get the updated Spry
scripts, which
were always free, but they are not integrated into the
Dreamweaver user
interface.
So, to cut a long story short, you need to hand code the new
widgets.
Alternatively, you can use Dreamweaver CS4, which does
include the new
widgets. CS4 is currently available as a public beta from
labs.adobe.com. The official announcement of when it will be
released is
on Tuesday 23 September.
