Device preview missing [Discontinued]

Dear Adobe community,

I was once able to preview my work on my iPhone without a problem. All of a sudden, then Device Preview stopped working, but there was a message below the Safari option (when I clicked Device preview) saying there was an error.

I un- and re-installed Dreamweaver, but now when I click on the Device Preview button, nothing at all comes up. That little window that used to pop up with Safari and (previously) with the QR code, now does show up. Nothing happens at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To be honest, I've never used Device Preview because I have a local testing server so I didn't notice Adobe had discontinued it.

https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/using/device-preview.html

"Effective from November 16, 2021, the functionality to preview pages across multiple devices has been discontinued across all Dreamweaver versions."

You can test mobile devices on your remote server or install a local testing server (Xampp, Mamp or Mamp Pro for Mac).

I don't use Safari.  My default browser is Firefox. My secondary is Chrome.

Which version of Dreamweaver do you have?

Which Mac OS?

Can you use ordinary preview in browser?  Right-click on document tab, select open in browser...

Hi there, Nancy. Thanks very much for the response!

I'm using the newest version of Dreamweaver, 2021 just updated. And, MacOS 12.6 on a M1 Macbook Air.

Now, when I click the Preview icon, I am getting the option for Safari, and that works fine. But, that wasn't the original problem. What I'm still not getting, and wasn't getting before this recent re-install is the option to preview it on my mobile device. I believe, originally, when I clicked the Preview icon I would get a QR code I could scan and that would establish the link with the device. Then, that stopped working and there was a few lines below the Safari option that said there was an error connecting to the device. Now, there's nothing at all referring to the device when I click the preview icon. There's Safari and that's it. No mobile device and no longer even a error message.

I went through the adobe guidelines for troubleshooting this problem. Made sure Javascript and cookies were on. Made sure I was on the same network on lapto + device. Made sure I was signed in on the same account on both. Still no option to preview on device.

Ok, I see. That would explain it! 😄

Thanks very much for your help with this, and for the suggestions for the other alternatives for this functionality!

Best,

a.
