Divide states into metro zones

I have a site where we need to divide states into metro zones Like California would be Northern Cal, Southern Cal, Central, Cal etc. Is there a formal listing that anyone knows of that does this for each state. I would like to be consistant if possible.

I don't know enough about the US administrative system to know whether this is what you're looking for, but it took approximately one minute to find the following through Google: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_regions_of_the_United_States#Intrastate_regions.

Sorry if I offended you, Ken, but it never ceases to amaze me how often people forget the power of search engines.

David, apology accepted. It is not the fact that I could look it up on Google and in fact I had. I am a small web developer that works alone. Coming from an engineering backgroud where we had complete teams to bounce ideas and solutions off of, I greatly miss that. By posting a question like this on this forum and others, I get the feedback and insight from others, not just the answers. Sometimes someone will bring up a complete packaged solution, or point me in a direction I had never even thought of, sometimes I just get a point in the right direction like you did. So please, although I'm sure it is not always the case, sometimes we are not lazy or want you to do the work for us, were just looking for ideas and thoughts from fellow developers.
