The previous webforum/NNTP interface had roughly 90 percent of the questions coming from the webforum, and 90 percent of the mostly correct replies coming from the NNTP newgroup users.
The newsgroup users are for the most part NOT going to use this web forum.
so for the most part- there are 50 or 100 people who tried to offer help daily, who are not "in here" and won't participate because this web forum interface is just slow and clunky and flashy. We just want TEXT. NNTP. WORDS.
I've been ACE and TMM longer than i can remember. Not renewing.
But you still asked it in this thread, as did the other user. Give people a chance to get used to the new forum before you start sprouting on about how things should be done.
The question was asked to bring David back to the substance of this forum -- not to pollute a discussion that is already out of place in it. Llke everyone, David is a creature of habit. Unlike everyone, he holds a leadership position in this forum and others and should be made aware of the bad example that he is setting.

I love the new forums! Thank you Adobe for giving me one place to get help.
I used to have to go to two different places - no more! I use Dreamweaver and other tools in the suite - like photoshop so it's better for me to stay in once place instead of bouncing back and forth.
Better searching, plus tons of new features.
NNTP is kind of outdated anyway so I have no problem with that - I have rss and email working fine.
I created a rule so all the emails go to one place - not a big deal

What gives you that idea? Plenty of good support forums offer NNTP access. RSS and email is no substitute for NNTP.
You have clearly never used newsgroups properly with their unparalleled advantages of SPEED, efficiency of navigation and screen layout (so much quicker and easier to read), threads (so conversations between individuals are obvious on screen-the threaded view on this forum is nothing like NNTP threads), filtering ("view all replies to my messages") etc.
PS: you're entitled to your opinion about the forums of course. Just don't dismiss NNTP as outdated technology. It's been around for a long time but it's still in widespread use for support forums because it works - excellently - and is a perfect platform for quickly sharing information and ideas.

WOW! What a gang of intellectuals with not much to say other than: "Git outta here kid, ya bother me!" I've been on many a forum thread with various questions but this one takes the cake. Granted, I haven't used the 'old' system since I'm new to DW and really need help in all areas. But reading the rants and raves of you 'learned folks' about what is Nirvana and what isn't is just way over the top of what this thing is all about; helping us dummies to understand how to use a very complicated piece of software. I harken back to some remote episode of Star Trek where the aliens were so far above everyone that they no longer needed to be physical beings. Kinda like 'Gods' of the universe. If that's what you 'learned folks' think you are, then I have 3 words for you: "Get over yourselves!". Last time I checked, forums such as these were designed to 'help' numbskulls like me with problems rather than postulating their importance to the world. From what I see, the design of this 'new' style seems to be OK and, once I am able to formulate an intelligent question on my DW dilemmas, I'll look here, as well as the 'Cow' for answers. Y'all need to take a step back and re-read what going on here. Not about helping others but boasting about who's got the biggest ego! [ IMHO ]
Have a great evening!

It's alright. With your insight the bad spelling is easily overcome.

As a newcomer you seem to have misinterpreted this thread. That's OK.
This is not about egos or a group of intellectual elite.
The forums have always been about helping each other and sharing knowledge about DW. I was a newbie here in 1999 and have learned much from many brilliant minds here over the years and enjoyed the community spirit that was evident.
For 10+ years (Macromedia and now Adobe) there have been Dreamweaver forums accessible via web and newsreaders. Worked beautifully.
Adobe has now "upgraded" the web forums (where all the questions have historically come from) and got rid of the newsreader forums (where most of the answers have usually come from). Why, we don't know.
That would be fine if the end result was overall improvement but from where I'm sitting it's a big step backwards for no discernible reason.
So years of knowledge and understanding of DW looks like disappearing overnight simply because of a change in forum technology.
Think of the recent uproar when Facebook merely re-formatted users' homepages telling them it was better. True, people don't like change. But then again why change what's not broken?
Anyway, this is completely OT for this forum so I'll leave it there.

<deleted for now to ponder>
there is no drafts system. I'm thinking i don't want to post this. I want to think about it for a day. It's not mean or nasty- just trying to get thoughts across that the workflow to post things here are so different from using a newsreader.
Can i even copy text out of this window and paste to something else? Okay- yes I can.
I'll think over if i will send this or if i will even log in again.
Thinking of how many emails I've gotten in recent months with tag lines reminding people about "open communication" policy to prevent stupid things from happening...
maybe a former ace.

ten years as a volunteer doing it for the fun.
can't get a login to a private area because the person to ask is on vacation or on mandadorary vacation.
I am going to burn it, and some Mod is going to wipe out every letter i've ever typed. Good nite.

Stop feeling sorry for yourself and log into the forum entitled "Dynamic HTML General Discussion". Your remorse is unfounded.

Hey "the real blu"...
You never did say why you marked the topic as answered, nor why that was accorded to the particular individual / post you accorded it to?
Cheers,

If the original poster is the only one who can award "points" then i must have done it either by accident maybe clicking to open K's profile or just gotten in a totally frustrated mood mood and pretended i was Drew Carey pressing the buzzer and giving away ten thousand points on "Whose Line is it anyway?"
The points have the same value. But hopefully there is no "under desk" time involved for these ones.
I'm on break from this- only logged in to answer your question.

Sounds like you need to take a break Blue 🙂 I can really understand your frustration, been there, done that over the last few days !
I've had to step back a few times over the last few days as well. You will probably read about all the hassles I've had with trying to post things here under one username - it just won't stick ! and I end up losing all my history, settings etc.,
We all get frustrated at times, that's when it's best to withdraw, take a deep breath, do something else and come back more freshed 🙂
(says that as a reminder to self as well 😉

Well, if not a moderator, then likely a Community Expert -- same thing.
I find it abominable that one-way contributors are also moderators. No third-party arbitration!
You post your question, the "gods" descend, and then disappear immune from what follows as they manipulate responses from the clouds, and this is called a users forum!

Oh, I'm sure. I'm just pointing out that not all of them are, so it's not the same thing. Also, some hosts/mods are employees, so not Community Experts by definition.

There is no secret about it. There are three moderators in the Dreamweaver forum: Murray Summers, Nadia Perre, and myself.
I have edited some messages posted by you and Jay Jhabrix earlier today because both of you were in clear breach of the forum guidelines.
Personal insults, verbal attacks, and generally offensive, disrespectful, or abusive messages will be edited or deleted by forum hosts. Repeated violations will result in temporary suspension of forum access, eventually leading to being banned from forums.
One of the comments that I deleted today was libellous. For what it's worth, in the past few weeks I have also deleted a number of personal attacks on you before you had chance to see them.
Personal attacks have no place here, and will be deleted. Under the Terms of Use of this forum, content can be deleted "for any reason (or no reason)". By participating in this forum, everyone is considered to have agreed to those terms. Having said that, I take no pleasure in deleting content, and do so only when I believe it absolutely necessary, such as to avoid the flame war that broke out between you and Jay in the thread that I locked earlier today.
This is a forum for the discussion of Dreamweaver-related issues. Everyone who participates here does so on a voluntary basis. Most people who come here in search of advice or help manage to find it. However, when someone offers help, but is unable to provide the answer, there is no obligation to pursue the matter any further.
The moderators in this forum also happen to be those who spend most time answering questions. If everyone sticks by the forum guidelines, we can devote our time to doing that, rather than trying to intervene in squabbles between participants who have taken a dislike to one another. The position of moderator or "forum host", by the way, is unpaid.

Thank you for confirming my suspicion. I must say, however, that I offer no apology for my own self-defense, but remain accusatory toward the forum's management for allowing Jhabrix to post to my entries. I, nor anyone else, needs a monkey on his back. That he remains is indication of the effectiveness of your intervention.
Every response to your other claims has already been said numerous times, and I have no desire to spend any more energy in their discovery, as the past dictates that you will only disappear behind Adobe's curtain of control when your arguments no longer hold water.
My jQuery discovery is my gift to the community offered in return for the recent assistance that I received.

It's a good forum. I mean really, a forum is a forum and is really only as good as it's users.
I agree that with extra formatting capabilities comes the possibility of even more abuse and can lead to improper website posters etc...
but really it comes down to how well the forums are administered and monitored. I know as a smaller company, I had to eliminate my forums due to an increase in abuse. One message always spawns another since the search engines start finding you for certain raunchier keywords then everyone wanting to advertise those sights comes crashing down your door.
But as I said it all comes down to the people.
Good people, good help and good debates and good advice that's what makes a forum great.
The interface is a standard one seen in many other forums.
A WYSIWYG interface is the new standard for most forums.
If you don't want it there is probably check mark in your profile settings that you can change to not use the WYSIWYG
interface and just use a text only interface.
