Dreamweaver 2015 vs 2017

Community Beginner ,
Jan 26, 2017 Jan 26, 2017

I installed DW 2017 but am finding it beyond my Web 1.0 skills. I cannot seem to locate the 2015 version to reinstall.

Can those two versions be installed together? When I installed the update it overwrote the old version.

I am managing a fairly sizeable site. I assume Muse would not perform that function.

I'll likely need to stick with DW 2015 until my skill set improves.

It's in the Creative Cloud app itself to download the previous versions.  This article will help walk you through the process.

Muse would require you to rebuild every page, and does not incorporate a CMS.

You could consider Muse's big brother 'Business Catalyst', but that would also require a rebuild -

You can have all 5 Creative Cloud versions installed on the same machines, at the same time, as part of your paid subscription. They just won't run at the same time. So to use features not available in the version you're using, you'll need to close it to open the later/newer one with the feature you want.

In the future, when installing new versions of Adobe software from the CC Desktop App, it's best to click the Advanced Options link on the bottom of the first installation dialogue window. That allows you to un-check the default "Remove Older Versions" option. It won't stop a dot release from overwriting the full version it's patching, but will stop the next full version from removing the older ones.

Just as a matter of interest, (and the Dw team may also find this of interest).

What do you find that makes Dw 2017 beyond your skills?

I would like to know the same thing.  It's essentially the same software as before but with a new  look.

Some menu items were moved.  Some were removed.  And some new features were added to give greater flexibility to designers who work with code.

I admit change is always hard at first.  That's true of any new release.  But the more you use it, the easier it becomes.
